The Acupuncture Foundation Professional Association is Ireland's longest established

professional association representing Acupuncturists and Chinese Medical practitioners

since 1987.

 

It is responsible for the regulation and maintenance of a Register of Acupuncturists 

who work within the guidelines set out by the Department of Health and Children. 

Each registered practitioner has completed a minimum of 3 years training in the

theory, practice and clinical aspects of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture. 

 

Students also study orthodox Medical Sciences, pathology, anatomy and

physiology, thus ensuring safe and effective practice. Postgraduate training

includes clinical placement in Hospitals in China. Members must have

Professional and Public Liability Insurance Cover and are approved by

VHI, Hibernian, Quinn, HSE and many other insurance companies. 

 

All members are bound by a strict Code of Ethics and Practice,

which is strictly enforced by the Association.
